Luke 1:18–25

I really like the ESV translation for this chapter. Having compared several, it best captures the difference between Zecharaiah’s and Mary’s (v. 34) response to an angelic visitiation. “How shall I know this?” said Zechariah. “How will this be?” said Mary. Both knew that it was impossible for them to have children in their current situations, but one responded with doubt and arrogant skepticism and the other with curiousity that expected the angel’s words to be true.

You make the impossible possible through Your great power. We thank you for making it possible for us to stand in Your presence.
